I call this hat style the esther amelia (part Esther Williams swim fabulous, part Amelia Earhart aviator adventure, 100% bold lady fun.)
After I
had named these hats I rented a bunch of Esther Williams swim musicals
from the library. Not ground breaking cinema exactly but she brought something fresh and radiant to the Hollywood formula. Really lovely to watch her swim/dance with such strength and grace and the fashion was fantastic.
She passed away June 6, at the athletic age of 91.
Thank you for the inspiration, Ms.Williams, I'm sure you are diving from rainbows above us now.
